Luke: The Year of the Lord’s Favor is unavailable, but you can change that!

Esteemed biblical scholar Dale Ralph Davis examines the treasure to be found in Luke’s gospel. His humor and love for his Saviour shine through in this addition to the Focus on the Bible series. The final temptation (in Luke’s order) shows that faith prefers to trust God than to test God (vv. 9–12). We might say the focus is on certainty here. Can we be sure of God and His care? In particular, can Jesus be sure of God and His care, and, if so, is He ready to demonstrate that He believes it? The scene, then, is ‘the wing of the temple complex’, a quite elevated place, and the devil says, ‘If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here’ (v. 9), for, he adds, there’s an assurance
